Privacy Policy

your story, kept close.

Wellness Reflection is a private, local-first wellness companion for journaling, reflection, emotional awareness and gentle personal growth. This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is stored, and the choices you have.

You can use Wellness Reflection without creating an account. No sign-up, email, or login is required to journal, reflect, track moods, or use any of the core wellness tools.

1. How the app works (local-first by design)

Wellness Reflection is built to keep your personal reflections on your own device. Your journals, mood logs, intentions, letters, evening reflections, mirror check-ins, medication logs, secret drawer entries, and saved gentle words are stored locally in your browser or device storage — not on our servers.

Because your data lives on your device, it stays with you and works offline. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage will remove that content, and we cannot recover it for you. You can export a backup at any time (see section 4).

The app does not require an account, does not require Google or social login, and does not require authentication to use its features. It does not collect or store authentication tokens, passwords, or sign-in credentials.

2. What is stored locally on your device

The following is stored only in your device's local storage, where only you can access it:

  • Journal entries and their text
  • Mood log entries and any notes you add
  • Letters to your future or past self
  • Mirror Check-In choices and notes
  • Evening reflection answers
  • Intentions (habits) and completion logs
  • Medication names and daily taken/skipped logs
  • Secret Drawer entries and passcode
  • Things you are Looking Forward To
  • App preferences (theme, notification settings)
  • Saved affirmations and gentle words

None of this content is sent to our servers unless you explicitly use the optional memoir email notification feature (see section 5), explicitly choose to reflect with a mentor (see section 3), or export a backup file and share it yourself.

3. Journal & reflection content

Your journal and reflection content never leaves your device through the app. It is not uploaded, synced, analysed on a server, or used to train any model. The Reflection Insights and Weekly Reflection features (where available) run on your own existing local entries on your device.

Reflect with a Mentor (optional, opt-in only). The Journal and Evening Reflection pages offer an optional "Reflect with a mentor" feature. It is never triggered automatically. When you choose it, you must acknowledge — each time you open it — that your reflection will be sent to an AI service to generate a response.

When you use this feature:

  • Only the single entry you are actively reflecting on, together with the messages in that session, is sent to the AI service. Your other journal entries, mood logs, medication logs, and local data are never included.
  • The conversation is held in memory only and is discarded the moment you close it. It is not saved to your device or to any server.
  • The AI service does not retain your content to train models.
  • The mentor is a gentle reflective companion, not a therapist or crisis service. If you share that you are unsafe, it will gently encourage you to seek professional help or visit the in-app Crisis & Support page.

Because this feature sends content off your device, it is entirely optional. You can use every other part of the app without ever opening it.

4. Backup, export & restore

You can export your data to a portable file from Settings → Backup & Restore. This file is generated on your device and saved where you choose (for example, your Downloads or Files). It contains a copy of your local journal, moods, reflections and settings. You control where that file goes — it is only shared if you choose to share it.

You can also restore from a previously exported file. Restore merges into empty local keys so it won't overwrite anything new on your device.

Because exports contain your personal reflections, treat the file as private. If you delete it, the copy it held is gone; your in-app data remains on your device until you clear it.

5. Email notifications (optional, memoir only)

The only information the app may send to our servers is an email address you voluntarilyenter through the memoir "notify me" sign-up. This is optional and separate from the core wellness tools. If you choose to leave your email:

  • We store your email address and the source of the sign-up so we can send you a quiet note when the memoir is published.
  • Your journal entries, moods and reflections are never attached to or sent with this email.
  • You will not receive anything beyond the launch notification you asked for.

This email sign-up does not create an account and does not require a password.

6. Medication tracking & disclaimer

Medication tracking in Wellness Reflection is a personal reminder tool only. It records the names and times you choose, on your device, to help you remember. Wellness Reflection is not a medical service, does not provide medical advice, and does not interact with any health or prescription service. Always consult a qualified health professional about medication.

7. Not a crisis or emergency service

Wellness Reflection is not an emergency, crisis, or mental-health treatment service. If you are in danger or need urgent help, please contact your local emergency services. Australian crisis support resources are listed in the in-app Crisis & Support page.

8. Permissions the app may request

The app requests only the permissions needed to deliver its features:

  • Local storage — to save your journals, reflections and preferences on your device so the app works offline.
  • Notifications — optional, for gentle reminders such as a Letter to Myself, an evening reflection prompt, or a daily medication nudge. You can switch these off at any time, and they are never enabled without your consent.
  • Photos — only if you choose to add a photo to a Looking Forward item; the image is stored with that entry on your device.

The app never accesses your contacts, location, microphone, camera (beyond an optional photo pick), or health data.

9. Analytics (anonymous)

The app may record limited, anonymous usage events — such as "app opened" or "a feature was viewed" — to help us understand which parts of the app are useful. These events do not include the content of your journal, moods, reflections, or any identifying personal information. No journal content is ever collected, transmitted, or associated with analytics.

10. What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent your personal information.
  • We do not use your journal entries, moods, or reflections for advertising, profiling, or training external models.
  • We do not require an account or login to use the app.
  • We do not diagnose you or make claims about your mental health.

11. Third-party links

Some pages link to external sites (for example, a book on Amazon, the author's Instagram, or a crisis support organisation). Once you leave the app, that site's own privacy policy applies. We do not control how those third parties handle information.

12. Children's privacy

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Your choices

  • Use the entire app without an account or any sign-in.
  • Turn reminders and notifications on or off in Settings.
  • Export your journals and reflections from Settings → Backup & Restore.
  • Permanently clear all locally stored data using the reset option in Settings.
  • Withhold your email from the memoir notification sign-up if you prefer.
  • Never use "Reflect with a mentor" — the feature only sends content when you explicitly open it and acknowledge the prompt each time.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to keep it accurate with how the app works. The "last updated" date above will reflect any change.
